Teaching

Eller as a teacher.

Eller began teaching guitar since he was 15 years old. After graduating at the Rockacademy he decided to make teaching a big part of his life, because Eller loves to work with people.

Eller: “Also, in a fast life were you are travelling a lot, it’s nice to slow down and take the student into the small details of music and the guitar.”

Eller has teached people from age 7 to over 50.

Eller’s lessons are not just about the music itself. It’s also about the instrument (technically), the music industry, how to act as a band member, how to deal with sound on stage etc, because music is more than just music nowadays. Eller teaches mainly at a music school near Leiden, Holland.

Eller does workshops every once in a while, in all different genres in music. Sometimes it’s bandcoaching, or he teaches at schools etc.

Since the beginning of 2008 Eller started working at the Herman Brood Academy in Utrecht (named after Herman Brood (pronounce as “Herman Broat”), one of the biggest rock ‘n roll musicians of the Netherlands). As teaching guitar is always in a private environment, he is now in front of a class of the next generation devoted musicians. But no, he doesn’t teach guitar. He teaches them how to be an entrepeneur, because in the small music industry of Holland it could be hard to make a living out of it.

He also teaches classes at the Music Academy in Haarlem (north of Holland), ‘conservatorium InHolland.

The music industry is again not only about music. It’s about the ins and outs, like marketing, promotion, but also taxes etc. It’s never guaranteed that you will survive as a musician, but you’ll have a bigger chance. At the end you got to do it yourself, right?
